The ProSeminar 2026

The ProSeminar 2026 brings together researchers, actors from municipalities and cities, as well as school- and early childhood education and care (ECEC) professionals . Through the lens of the ProKoulu and ProVaka-models, we explore and reflect on how Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) can be developed. The Seminar will offer fresh research findings, insights and experiences from the practical application of the Pro-models and perspectives on delivering impactful and preventative behavioural support.  

The ProSeminar 2026 is organised in collaboration with the Niilo Mäki Institute and the InterLearn Centre of Excellence of the University of Jyväskylä. Its over-arching aim is to support collaboration and dialogue between school- and ECEC stakeholders and researchers. The programme will include presentations by experts, workshops on applying the Pro-models for school- and ECEC professionals, as well as discussions inspired by both national and international speakers. The event includes content delivered in Finnish, Swedish and English.

The main speakers of the seminar include Special Advisor Frode Heiestad (NUBU, Norway), Special Advisor Jukka Vetoniemi (EDUFI), Professor Mikko Aro (JYU) from the InterLearn Centre of Excellence, Professor Hannu Savolainen (UEF) from the ProKoulu research group and docent Vesa Närhi (JYU).

The event is free of charge. It is aimed at everyone already actively engaged in PBS and in anyone interested in PBS and in the Pro-models.

The event is organised close to the city centre of Jyväskylä at the University of Jyväskylä Seminaarinmäen Campus, which has been granted the European Heritage Label. Most of the lectures and workshops are organised in the main building (the address is Seminaarinkatu 15).
